It’s the inevitable, yet the very thing that we’re hardwired to resist.
Someone once said, you’re either moving forward or you’re moving backwards ~moving towards or away from our goals. My goal for you is to help you move forward and toward your desires with renewed intention.
Moving forward is growth! You have within you an absolutely awesome potential that is waiting to be unleashed! Growth happens one day at a time one foot in front of the other. My goal in working with you as a counselor or coach is to not only help you grow in your desired direction, but for you to thrive in your growth where you receive the unexpected benefits of change.
An intensely personal and intentional act of moving towards wholeness. Whether you desire to heal from a toxic relationship, grieve a major loss, or increase your confidence and effectiveness at work and in your personal life, we will work on healing old beliefs and patterns and creating new beliefs and possibilities that help you become the person you’re meant to be.
To aim or plan toward a desired goal is the act of intention. By setting our intention, we gain purpose as well as the inspiration and motivation to achieve our purpose. Do you begin the day with intention? We will be intentional in our work together.
I’m an LPC, LCMHC Licensed Counselor in the state of Virginia and North Carolina. I have provided counseling and consultation in numerous setting over the years from school counseling, to organizational consultation and training, to individual, group, family, and couple’s therapy.
I believe we already possess everything we need to heal ourself. The missing piece is a trained therapists like me to help guide you by giving insight, asking thought provoking questions, and most importantly, listening to you and holding the space for you to be vulnerable and grow.
My practice is inclusive with respect to racial or ethnic identity, country of origin, physical ability, gender or sexual orientation, or religious.

“Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy – the experiences that make us the most vulnerable.Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light”
Brene Brown
Counseling may be for you if you are having negative symptoms or stressors that are interfering with your ability to live a healthy lifestyle or have healthy relationships.
We will look at past and present behavior to understand how they’ve come to be and aid us in changing current behaviors.
We will work through painful feelings and look at distorted thoughts and self-destructive habits, and repair and improve our relationships when possible.
As your counselor we may be working longer together than we would in a coaching relationship.
“Promise me you’ll always remember: you’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think”
-Winnie the Pooh
Our coaching sessions are more present and future oriented as we explore your dreams, visions, and goals for your personal and professional life. Through thoughtful questioning, and self discovery you will gain insight and awareness that guides you in taking actions toward your goals. We will identify skills and actions necessary to help you reach your goals while providing structure, support and feedback during this process.
Meditation and Mindfulness is an integral part of my Counseling and Coaching practice.
In mindfulness practices we utilize meditation and breathing exercises to improve ways of experiencing emotion. Understandably most people find ways to avoid negative emotions, however, by avoiding the discomfort of emotions, we may fail to recognize negative thinking patterns and opportunities for growth and improved happiness.
In Counseling, mindfulness gives us the capacity to tolerate our negative and unpleasant feelings, thus making it much more effective in therapy. I use mediation and mindfulness as a tool to stay present and strengthen one’s ability to tolerate the discomfort of negative emotions and even to develop a sense of peace and strength through your difficulties.
In Coaching, mindfulness and meditation may look like guided imagery work that allows you to tap into a deeper connection with yourself and find your true values and purpose. This work helps you to live in alignment with your true purpose and manifest your life beyond what you can imagine.
Keep in mind the central theme in mindfulness is the gentle nonjudgmental awareness of our thoughts without reactions, which helps all things to become possible.
